Its user-focused design and user-friendly features make it a great choice for those new to sewing.

Is the Janome 2212 an expensive machine?

  • No, the Janome 2212 falls within the affordable range for sewing machines. It’s reasonably priced, typically available for less than $200. Many retailers offer value bundles, including extra accessories, making it a cost-effective choice for beginners and budget-conscious sewists.

Can I use generic brand accessories with my Janome machine?

  • Yes, for certain accessories. You can use standard bobbins (class 15) and standard sewing machine needles with the Janome 2212. However, it’s recommended to use Janome-specific accessories rather than those branded for other sewing machine manufacturers, such as Singer or Brother, to ensure compatibility and performance.

What is the warranty for the Janome 2212?

  • The Janome 2212 comes with a generous 25-year warranty. This warranty reflects the brand’s commitment to producing reliable and durable sewing machines, providing you with peace of mind regarding your investment.

Can the Janome 2212 sew through denim?

  • While the Janome 2212 can handle lightweight and medium-weight fabrics, it’s not the best choice for sewing heavy materials like denim. It’s recommended to use a more robust machine for denim projects.

Can I use the Janome 2212 for quilting projects?

Can the Janome 2212 sew leather?

  • Yes, you can sew thin leather with the Janome 2212. It’s important to use a leather needle designed for sewing leather and to take your time, using the right settings. However, for heavy-duty leather sewing, a more robust machine would be a better choice, as the Janome 2212 is primarily designed for lightweight to medium-weight fabrics.

Does the Janome 2212 have a blanket stitch?

  • No, the Janome 2212 does not have a blanket stitch. This type of decorative stitch is typically found in more advanced, computerized sewing machines. If you require a blanket stitch for your projects, you may want to consider a different model with a wider range of decorative stitches.

I bought this machine because I wanted to learn how to sew. I hadn’t touched a sewing machine since freshman year home ec, so my endeavor into the sewing world was quite the learning experience. By chance, a friend of mine had a Janome machine she had received as a gift, which she was kind enough to let me play around with. I liked it enough, and after extensive research, decided on the 2212 model. I must admit, I really love this little machine. As a true beginner, it has done everything I needed it to do. It has mended jeans, sewn through several layers of thinner material, and I even attempted coasters! The 2212 has done all this will flying colors! Additionally, I would like to say that the manual for this bad boy is super amazing and easy to follow. There are LOTS of pictures, with step by step instructions. The manual comes in dual English and Spanish if that is a selling point for you. The only trouble I have had with my machine were purely user error. I didn’t load the bobbin properly the first few times, but after I figured it out, I haven’t had any issues. I appreciate the ease of use, and the simplicity of the machine. It is just right for my needs as a beginner who is learning. The button-hole foot is easy to use, and straight forward. Spooling a bobbin is also easy and convenient. In my opinion this is an excellent choice for a beginner, or someone who is only planning on doing basic sewing. Once I am more skilled and ready for a new machine, I will definitely stay within the Janome family. And you can’t beat a 25 year warranty!
